Department clarifies on water supply scheme at Loa

ITANAGAR, July 3: Reacting to news item on Seizure of PHED pipes, published in a section of press,  Executive Engineer PHE & WS Division, Sangram-Laaying informed that RCC works which includes intake arrangement, Pre-sedimentation tank, Sedimentation tank, Storage Tank and Public Stand Posts have been completed and payment released to respective local contractors under the scheme for providing water supply to Loa village under Tali circle, in Kurung Kumey.

Due to auctioning of departmental truck and off road condition of the existing truck, local carriage contractors were engaged for lifting and carriage of the pipes up to the village which includes both mechanical lifting upto Yangte administrative HQ and thereafter on head load.

Departmental pipes were issued after obtaining proper receipts through govt. challan from the departmental store at Karsingsa during April 2010.

On delay of lifting of pipes, the concerned carriage contractor was pursued on several occasions in person at Itanagar-Naharlagun to execute the contract work awarded to him. Departmental officers even went to his residence in the third week of May 2010 and latest again asked him to execute his work on 1st of July 2010 regarding the same. However the carriage contractor failed to lift the pipes in spite of his verbal assurances to carry out the work, the officer informed.

It is further stated that the payment for carriage and lifting of pipes has not been made as yet and the scheme remains to be commissioned for want of pipelines despite several efforts made by the departmental officers for early positioning of the pipe at the site by carriage contractors.

The officer further said that the non-cooperative trend by some elements of the inaccessible and backward areas has been causing as deterrent factor for successful execution of developmental programmes of the government, which has to be discouraged.

 

 

AR nabs five hardcore militants

ITANAGAR, July 3: 19 Assam Rifles (AR) in a joint search operation with Tirap district  police has  apprehended 3 hardcore NSCN (K)  cadres at Laju on July 01.

During the operation the forces cordoned off entire Lazu area and apprehended SS Second Lt Wangloo Tiri, SS Cpl Sontoi Hodoung and SS Cpl Kijen Nymte. The other 2 -3 cadres escaped taking advantage of absolute darkness and thick foliage. The fleeing cadres fired a couple of rounds and lobbed a grenade that exploded on the spot.

The AR personnel also recovered 7 Grenades including 3 of Chinese origin and ten extortion letter heads, indent and house tax receipts, one combat haversack, ten batteries, tobacco pouches and other items from their possession.

Earlier, on June 15, Assam Rifles apprehended Self Styled Lt Achat Wangsa of NSCN (IM) during search operation in Bonia village and one 9mm Pistol was recovered from him. SS Lt Achat Wangsa admitted that he was involved in extortion and issuing threats to the locals.

On  June 16, 10 troops of 19 Assam Rifles had established a mobile check post on Longding - Pongchau axis and  during search of a Santro Car SS Pvt Puchat Wangsa of NSCN (K) was apprehended. Initial interrogation and thorough search of the vehicle led to the recovery of one 9mm Pistol and a Wallet containing Rs. 120. The synergised efforts of the 19 AR under 25 Sector AR of DAH Division and dist Police has led to apprehension of eight top cadres of NSCN factions during last one month, according to AR sources.

 

Anini Power supply restored

ROING, July 3: Much to the delight of the people, power supply to Anini township was restored with temporary restoration of  Chini Pani 250 KW hydel.  Out of the 3x50 KW Awapani mini hydel, only 50KW is restored and another two fail to run. Civil work have been already done but defect in the turbine could not make it run, informed the sources.

The entire power sources of Anini had collapsed due to heavy landslides and flash flood triggered by pre-monsoon rain during April last.

50 KW of Elzi mini hydel was also reinstated covering  Elzi and its peripheral villages providing uninterrupted power supply with good voltage, disclosed the sources further.  

Meanwhile, the only District Medical Anini is facing acute load shedding. “During emergency every minor or major operation is being carried out under dim light which may create complicacy and risk.  Better health delivery system to the people of the district  is affected due to inadequate supply of power to the medical, medical sources said.

 

IBCS to celebrate 75th birthday of Dalai Lama

ITANAGAR, July 3:The Itanagar Buddhist Cultural Society (IBCS) will celebrate the 75th birthday of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama on July 6 next at Siddhartha Vihar (Gonpa) Itanagar with a colourful day-long programme.

The Men-Tsee- Khang (Tibetan Medical & Astrological Institute) Itanagar in collaboration with IBCS will organise a free medical camp in the premises of Siddhartha Vihar (Gonpa) on same day to mark the auspicious occasion. During free medical camp Dr.Tenzin Nyima and Dr.(Mrs) Tenzin Lhanzey will attend the patients from morning till late afternoon.  

Free check up and treatment will be conducted on various diseases such as Asthma, RH. Arthritis, Diabetes, Hypertension, General Cardio-Vascular problems, Nervous-Disorders, Gyenaecoligical problems, Gastro-Intestinal  Disorders, Chronic Cold  and  Allergic and Psycosometic problems. Army recruitment rally for Arunachal

ITANAGAR, July 3:  Indian Army will conduct a recruitment rally at Bhalukpong, West Kameng from July 21- 23.

The rally is being held for the Soldier General Duty, Soldier Technical,  and Clerk/SKT . The candidates should be between 17 ½  to 21 years of age for Soldier GD and between 17 ½ - 23 years of age for other categories. The minimum educational qualification for Soldier GD is class VIII pass, whereas Soldier Technical and Clerks should be class XII pass, Colonel Baljeet Singh.

Now the administration takes on animal

ITANAGAR, July 3: All together eight cows and ten goats were seized during an operation at Itanagar and Naharlagun under the supervision of Additional District Magistrate today. Later, the seized animals were auctioned off at the EAC Office, Itanagar.

A sum of Rs 11000 was collected from the sale which was deposited with the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Capital Region.

The magistrate further informed that such operations will be carried out in the state capital time to time and appealed the public to cooperate with the authority.

 

Organisers for fair selection of ABW winners

ITANAGAR, July 3: To ensure fair selection of winners, the organizers of the much awaited Arunachal Boogie Woogie has contemplated a unique voting system.

The audience or supporters will be provided with a paper slip in which they will select their favourite performer.  

“40% of the selection will be done through a slip vote while 60% of the selection will be under the discretion of panel of judges which will be comprised of experts” says Kipa Ajay, chairman of Hornbill Centre for Development which is organizing Arunachal Boogie Woogie.

“The ABW, a state level dance competition, is a platform for the youths of Arunachal to showcase their dancing skills to the outside world which most of time, due to lack of platform, remain confine to some. Through ABW we want to expose their talent and the winner of this competition will be sponsored for audition round in national level competition”, he added.

The organizing is emphasizing to bring out talents from “grassroot” and so dispatched most of its forms in nook and corners of all the 16 districts.  However, for the convenience of the participants and organizers alike, some selected places have been chosen for smooth conduct of the audition.  

The participants from Bomdila and Roing will be auditioned on August 9 to 10, Pasighat and Ziro on 21 to 22. The capital complex which houses the highest numbers of talent will be auditioned on 1st September.  The organizer added that the last date for registration is 7th August.

The winner of this month long competition will receive an amount of Rs 3 lac while runners up will get 2 lac. There are consolation prizes too for the Top -10 finalists.   

The dance competition will be open to all, both male and female, with minimum age of 14 and maximum of 22 years.

 

CRPF to organize inter-dist football tourney

ITANAGAR, Jul 3: An Inter-District Football Tournament is being organized by 138 Bn CRPF under its Civic Action Programme from July 15 at Rijo Ground, Daporijo, Upper Subansiri district.

Winner and runners up teams would be awarded prizes worth Rs. 21,000 and 11,000 respectively in the form of sports/utility items. APSCW clarifies statement

ITANAGAR:  Chairperson Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women  (APSCW), Komoli Mosang while reacting to reports published in local dailies today, said that she had not criticized the efficiency of District Administrations but merely observed that when cases are referred to local kebang, often the verdict that comes across, is many a times to the disadvantage of women victims.

Mosang said that APSCW has always been appreciative of the response of the district and police administrations in mitigating atrocities met by women.

The APSCW further said that out of 574 cases received since establishment of APSCW in 2005, a total of 231 had been referred to District Administrations and that some of such case had been settled. Between 2005 to 2010, seventy cases had been disposed by the APSCW and the rest are under enquiry. The APSCW further pointed out that the figure of 30-40 cases reflected in the papers pertains to previous rough statistics.

 

Bank employees’ demand Police action

ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh State Cooperative Apex Bank Employees Association (APSCAB EA) appealed to the Seppa police and district administration to book the culprits involved in the looting of Rs 6 lakh from the staff of Apex Bank, Seppa branch in the broad day light on June 29 last.

It resented that till date no culprit was arrested though the crime was committed in broad day light and an FIR was lodged by the Seppa Bank branch.

It further informed that cashier P N Jerie and peon Dorjee Khandu of the bank branch was injured by the looters with lethal weapons.  The injured bank staff were undergoing treatment at Guwahati with one of them in serious condition, Association informed.

ITANAGAR, July 3: Abu Talling Welfare Society (ATWS) and All Lingdum-Lingko Youth Welfare Association (ALLYWA) have deeply mourned the death of Late Lingdum Yaro, a class VII student of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, Palin in Kurung Kumey district who died today. Both the organisations prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
